Texas Rail Advocates is saddened to hear of the passing of former Executive Director and transportation advocate Chris Lippincott of Austin.

Chris, a resident of Crestview, was a professional media strategist who helped shape TRA's conferences and was also active in Austin Coalition for Transit. "Chris was a go-getter and wouldn't take no for an answer," according to TRA President Peter LeCody. "We'd give him a task and he'd always find a way to get it accomplished. He was a great people person." Chris served as Executive Director in 2017 and 2018 and was the founder of Hounds Creek Consulting.

Chris served as Director of Media Relations for the Texas Department of Transportation from 2006-2011. He graduated from the University of Texas in 1996 with a BA in Government.

Senator Kirk Watson remembered Chris when he worked in Watson's mayoral run in Austin. "We technically called him my scheduler, but he did a bunch of things. He was a wonderful, passionate, happy, person who injected fun. I’m glad we were able to continue crossing paths. I’ll miss that. And Chris. A lot."

Chris succumbed to a lingering medical issue.

His LinkedIn page described Chris as a "Public affairs strategist with experience in federal, state and local government. Successful director of statewide communications campaigns integrating research, earned and paid media, and internet strategy. Successful policy advocacy at every level of government. Extensive background in preparation for communications crises, speech writing, investor communications, and media training. Experience as primary spokesman on sensitive, developing issues. Specialties: On-record and background briefing, public policy advocacy, public domain research."
